Common issues with silica gel mold

1.The mold not durable

In the process of making the mold, too much silicone oil was added, which destroyed the molecular weight of the silica gel, so the mold would not be durable. If you make small products with complex patterns, use the silica gel with high hardness to build the mold, the mould life time will be getting shorter, because the silica gel will be very hard, brittle and easy to break. On the contrary, if we make large products and use the silica gel with small hardness to build the mold, the results will also be unsatisfactory. Because the silica gel is too soft, its tension and tear strength will be reduced, and the mold will be deformed, so the number of mold using times will be reduced. The quality of mold glue itself is very good. There is no good or bad of silica gel, only suitable and unsuitable. We should use the suitable product hardness size of silica gel to make the mold will not appear such a situation.

2.Dry on the surface but not dry inside

Mold silica gel is a condensation silica gel. It is solidified by absorbing water in the air. In the process of making silica gel, the water is steamed dry, without adding the right amount of water, this phenomenon will occur. Solution: this phenomenon does not belong to the quality of the product, but because there is no control of water, improve the shelf life of silica gel, shelf life will appear for a long time, as long as the use of silica gel, add 0.05% water, mixing evenly can solve some of the situation.

3.Not satisfied tension

In the process of making mold, in order to reduce the viscosity of silica gel and make the mold easier to operate, large amounts of silicone oil was added in the silica gel, this will make silicone is very soft, not resistant, pull, tear strength is reduced, the phenomenon of tension variation, resulting in the mold is not durable, service life is short, the phenomenon such as fewer rolling over. The silica gel of the mold itself will not emit oil, and the oil will appear because the compound silicone oil is added in the operation process, because the white ore oil is a petrochemical product, not silicone oil.

4.Not resistant to acid and alkali and aging

In the process of making the silica gel mold, we suggest that customers had better not add any silicone oil, if necessary, the amount of silicone oil should not exceed 5% ~ 10% at most. Because the addition of too much silicone oil will destroy the molecular weight of silica gel, the mold will produce acid and alkali resistance and aging resistance.

5.Mold traces, stripes, not smooth or other cosmetic issues

This phenomenon occurs when the product master was not polished or polished well. Because in fact, the master itself is not smooth or perfect, so product copied would not be good. There is also a case that when playing the release agent, there is no even playing will cause the mold is not smooth.

6.Burning on mold

Because the unsaturated resin and resin products with peroxide curing agent, when the resin reaction will produce a lot of heat, the general resin curing time is 3 minutes, so demoulding should be in place in 3 minutes or as soon as possible, to prevent any burning on silica gel mold.
