Main factors contributing to poor sheet metal product quality

Customers’ requirements on product quality is getting higher and higher, but some products still have many defectives. In the past, there were not many software that could do automatic product unrolling function, but now almost all 3D software has unrolling function. What caused the poor processing of sheet metal parts?

Let us take CNC punch press as an example for failure analysis.

CNC punch press, sounds like a device for making very precise parts. In fact, a part of the sample made by numerical control is not good. Most of the malfunctions are caused by human error (mainly engineers, operating technicians operating the NCT machine).

The error with the engineer is usually caused by the incorrect input of the thickness of a certain material, and actually the bending factor is related to the thickness of the plate;

The error with the operation technician is related to the careless. It is necessary to modify the coordinates of the parts once the cutter table is adjusted. The failure was rooted in the wrong coordinates.     

Other contributor to the failure is the material. The material is not made according to the actual thickness. There may also be no materials used in accordance with the requirements of the drawings, such as smooth stainless steel, single sand stainless steel, double sand stainless steel, etc., the requirements are one kind of material, with other replacement are incorrect.

Therefore, in the process of quality control, special attention should be paid to the inspection and confirmation of manual programming, operation and judgment.
