One quick understanding of paining on prototypes

One quick understanding of paining process on prototypes

Usually the whole painting including 3 steps,

  • Primer: The purpose is to fill out the some dents or pits, improve the adhesion as well as defect indication.
  • Intermediate coat: It’s very important and it’s one preparation for the surface painting also its one finish on the bottom painting. It also strengthens the adhesion and functions as one separation to assure the quality of surface painting.
  • Topcoat: It can be classed into single-layer paint and multi-layer paint. Topcoat is divided into single-layer paint and multi-layer paint, is the color of the determination of the layer and decorative protective layer, single-layer paint we commonly known as plain paint, also known as ordinary paint, can be completed in a layer. Multi-layer paint series silver paint and pearl paint series, double and multi-layer coatings construction process completed, silver powder paint is made from a special aluminum materials through the research, has the high stability and strong protective and outdoor ornamental, pearl paint series is made up of mica sheet through high-tech extract and shell material, is the advanced paint colorful and the ornament is extremely strong. Top paint part of the spraying quality requirements are very high, need to be clean, full, bright, not hanging, gloss uniform, no leakage, leveling good, not impetuosity, no color difference. It does be very challenge to get one perfect top painting. It needs one very rich experienced and problem solving skill.

For sheet metal painting, to finish the last process, we have to wait until the painting is dry and do best efforts to remedy any minor defects. Actually no painting is perfect.  For example , there is one typical issue- orange peel, a film on the flow in the process of flat dry jet lag produced by natural phenomena. For average person, of course, is difficult to detect and need experts to find it. We need one "mirror treatment" to improve the orange peel. Usually we use  sand paper 1500-2000# or 2500# if necessary, then use pumice or clay composition of crude wax cut grinding, get rid of sand paper traces, the next step for grinding with fine cut wax (not containing silicon), to get rid of coarse wax, then treated with reducing agent in order to achieve perfect luster, again thoroughly with mirror surface treatment to remove the aura and mark, then paint in order to achieve the most deep gloss, the last procedure is the sealing glair, so that you can to achieve the perfect paint effect of expert.
