Main functions of heat treatment in CNC machining

Usually one heat treatment process is in place before or after parts being CNC machined. So what is the role of heat treatment?

It mainly has the following four functions:

1. It can improve the hardness of materials. For example, quenching, carburizing quenching, etc.

2. Remove the internal stress of rough parts. Used for casting, forgings, welding parts.

3. Improve the processing conditions to make the material easier to process. Such as annealing, normalizing, and so on.

4. Improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of metal materials. For example, tempering and tempering treatment, etc.

Machined parts with corresponding heat treatment process, which helps to improve the hardness, wear resistance and strength of the machined parts, so that the accuracy of machining and service life is greatly improved.

At Accu, we will review with customers for the heat treatment requirements or product application situation for proper heat treatment selection. If you have any technical questions in heat treatment or  CNC machining product needs, please kindly contact with our Product Manager Flemming at This email address is being protected from spambots.
